Outstanding IT-BPM companies in PH, LGUs honored in ‘Solaia’

Twenty years after it was first established, the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) recognized several IT-BPM companies in the Philippines that have made noteworthy contributions to the continuous growth of the industry during the inaugural Solaia: The IT-BPM Awards last June 13 at the Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig.

Accenture, one of the largest IT companies in the country, emerged as the top winner of the night after receiving the BPM Company of the Year award. This is in recognition of their significant impact to the growth of the IT-BPM industry during the past year. The company also received the Innovative Program of the Year award, which recognized how its services catalyzed benefits for customers and employees.

JP Morgan Chase & Co., which offers investment banking solutions, won the Global Capability Center of the Year award, while IBM, a provider of global hybrid cloud and AI services, was named the Technology Company of the Year.

The Company for Regional Development award, which honored a company that contributed to the growth of the IT-BPM industry outside Metro Manila, went to Foundever, a customer experience management firm.

Multisys Technologies Corp., a software company, was named the SME of the Year, or the small to medium-sized enterprise exhibiting the most exceptional growth, innovation, and impact on the market.

These winners were named after rigorous evaluation by an independent panel of judges and industry experts, and the results were tabulated by SGV & Co. serving as the independent tabulator.

Government support

In his opening speech, IBPAP President Jack Madrid said the IT-BPM industry continues to grow at a very impressive trajectory, revealing that it will reach 1.9 million people in the workforce bringing in over $40 million in export revenue by 2026.

“These did not happen overnight, but are a direct result of decades of commitment, innovation, collaboration, and old-fashioned grit,” he said.

Vital to the growth of the industry is the government’s support in improving the ease of doing business and increasing investor confidence through reforms, which IBPAP also recognized during the awards night.

Sec. Frederick Go, the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, was named the Luminary of the Year in recognition of his office’s contributions to addressing the challenges of the IT-BPM industry. Go previously pledged to prioritize reforms and programs that will make the Philippines globally competitive, and recently worked with Congress to introduce amendments to the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) law.

In his speech, Go named the IT-BPM industry as one of the strongest pillars that contribute to the country’s economy. “Through the years, we have seen how your industry managed to evolve and grow as a result of your commitment to the values of excellence, innovation, and collaboration,” he said.

In addition to Go, the local government units (LGUs) of Quezon City and Iloilo City were named the Outstanding LGU Partners for Metro Manila and Regional, respectively. Both LGUs have established partnerships with the IT-BPM industry and IBPAP to implement policies that create an environment conducive to its growth.

Evolving workplace

Madrid said with Gen Zs entering the workforce, the world will soon see a multi-generation industry of talent that will emerge, calling for a more dynamic approach to encourage young talents to join the IT-BPM industry.

“We need to showcase our industry for what it is: an exciting and fulfilling career journey, where our people define and unleash their full potential,” he said.

Part of this approach is cultivating a positive workplace culture. In partnership with Great Place To Work, the “global authority on workplace culture,” Solaia: The IT-BPM awards also recognized 30 of the Philippines’ Best Workplaces in IT-BPM for 2024.

Synchrony Global Services Philippines, which recently topped this year’s Best Workplaces List in the country, was also at the top of the Best Workplaces in IT-BPM. Cisco and Accenture placed second and third, respectively, while Atlassian, Via Appa Philippines, Inc., TaskUs, Teleperformance, Capital One Philippines, 3M GSC Philippines, and DXC Technology Philippines completed the top ten.

These achievements by IT-BPM companies in the country embody the Filipino ingenuity that radiates throughout the world, according to Madrid. He added that it is something that the industry should take pride in.

“We need to show that there’s a role for everyone in IT-BPM across a multitude of skills and work types. In doing so, we can celebrate the sometimes-overlooked achievements of the industry,” Madrid said. RDH
