WATCH: A rundown of cheap Pinoy cocktails and how to make them

by Aaron Tom Silvestre / March 28, 2017

Boracay, Meztiza, and Expire, these aren’t just some random words we plucked out of a dictionary. No, these are actually the names of some classic Pinoy cocktails that everyone should try atleast once in their life (or an inuman session).

And we actually mixed a bunch of them ourselves and tried them out to prove they are safe for consumption. Watch on below if you remain unconvinced.

The best part about these mixes is that they’re fairly cheap and the ingredients are available at a sari-sari store near you. There are plenty of Filipino alcoholic drinks you can mix up but these are our faves! You can just as easily have a go and mix it yourself!

Ingredients and mixes

Expired:

2 parts – Red horse

1 part – Gin Bilog

4 pcs – Menthol candy (preferably no mentos)

Ice

Boracay:

2 part – Rum

1 part – Condensed Milk

1 part – Instant coffee

1 sachet – Milo/Ovaltine

Punyeta:

2 part – Rum

2 part – Iced Tea

2 part – Pine apple juice

Meztiza:

2 part – Coke

2 part – Redhorse

1 part – Rum

The Verdict

Although you can never go wrong with a bucket of pale at inumans but if you’re ever feeling a little more adventurous with your alcohol or simply want a break from the routine tito drink, then fancy giving some of these local mixes a try. It’s definitely not gonna cost you an arm and a leg, but you do have to watch your liver.
