The Sunny Side Cafe – Foodie alert! While the country awaits the 6 month rehabilitation project of Boracay to finish, a number of the island’s restaurants are organizing pop ups within Metro Manila. As part of the first wave of pop up concepts, The Sunny Side Cafe has set up shop inside Canvas at Westgate Alabang. Famous for their kitayama tapa, heirloom rice champorado, ube pancakes and chorizo roesti, this island favorite will be around the south till June 30. The restaurant’s management has transported all their staff from Boracay to Manila, which means dining with them helps their livelihood.
According to their pop up menu, “Our goal with this Pop-Up is to provide livelihood for our staff while Boracay is closed and you dining with us helps us support them.” Isn’t that great? Not only do you enter doing a good deed, you’re instantly rewarded with one of Boracay’s best restaurants.
According to owner Nowie Potenciano, there are other pop-up concepts that will sprout around the Metro while Boracay is in shut down.
