In celebration of its 75 years of global work for children, UNICEF has teamed up with world-renowned artist Robert Alejandro, more popularly known as “Kuya Robert”, to design greeting cards exclusively for the holiday season and as part of the UNICEF Basket of Hope campaign to help fund lifesaving programs for children.

With its theme “A Filipino Christmas”, each limited-edition box set contains 12 cards in 4 unique designs for Christmas and everyday celebrations. Get one box set for those signing up to be monthly donors starting at P600 every month or for every one-time donation of P1,000. Donations will go towards improving access to learning tools and resources, health and nutrition services such as life-saving immunizations, and emergency care for vulnerable children.

UNICEF’s Chief of Fundraising and Partnerships Susanna Snyman said, “We all need hope in these difficult times, especially the most disadvantaged children and families. We are grateful to have Robert design these delightful cards as a token for all donors who contribute to UNICEF’s work for children.”

For his part, Alejandro, who has been collecting UNICEF cards since childhood, shared his thoughts on the partnership. “I was very excited when UNICEF tapped me to be part of this project to celebrate their 75th anniversary. I grew up knowing how UNICEF helps children around the world, ensuring they have access to basics like health care, education, clean water, and aid in emergencies. Being asked to design for such an iconic product is a dream come true for me. I am honored to be a part of the UNICEF Cards legacy.”

His inspiration for designing the cards stemmed from Philippine culture. “I love how we live,” he said. “I believe we are wonderful and kind people. We are fun loving, so incredibly unique, and so connected to each other. I’ve always wanted that to be seen and felt through my art.”

With the pandemic unleashing a global crisis that continues to overturn children’s lives everywhere, UNICEF hopes that through this gesture, children can have a reason to smile this holiday season – that also, the reminder of joy, friendship, and a wish for a better year ahead can spark a chain of hope as donors send these cards out to friends and family during these festivities.

Alejandro added, “These two years have been tough for all of us, most especially the children. I wish that even just for the holidays, they would forget that there was a pandemic and enjoy being with people they love and who love them back.”
