Technology has indeed made the world a smaller place. But as we evolve to become more digitally-savvy, more and more innovations are developed and created, making everything more connected and smarter, introducing a lifestyle that’s more modern than we could ever imagine.

Last February 23, OPPO showcased its latest innovations at the 2021 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Shanghai and wowed everyone with its latest foray in device charging, 5G connectivity and smart technology.

Flash Charging the Future

During the event, OPPO launched The Flash Initiative, based on its VOOC flash charging technology. As part of the initiative, it partnered with FAW-Volkswagen, Anker and NXP Semiconductors to help bring faster charging to every area of consumers’ lives. Each partner will work with proprietary technical designs developed by OPPO, which has applied for more than 2,950 flash charging patents worldwide, with over 1,400 already granted.

Adler Feng, OPPO Senior Director of Intellectual Property said, “The Flash Initiative reflects OPPO’s belief in human-centric technologies that make a difference in people’s everyday lives. And thanks to our new partners, our proprietary technologies can reach more people than ever before. This is a vital step in freeing consumers to use their devices however they want, no matter what they need to do or where in the world they are.”

Technology certification laboratory CTTL (China Telecommunication Technology Laboratory) will be in charge of testing and certification of products that will be developed with VOOC flash charging technology. As one of China’s largest tech certification labs, CTTL has already granted OPPO a five-star rating for its VOOC Flash Charging, and has previously worked with the company to develop a technical paper on flash charging technology, especially around device and consumer safety.

Numerous examples of cutting-edge charging products were featured including the 125W flash charger, which can charge a 4,000mAh phone battery to 100% in just 20 minutes. Another is the 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charge products—which charges the same battery in as little as 30 minutes—and products from several partners who have licensed OPPO’s proprietary technologies.

Smarter and More Connected with 5G

As it builds its leadership in the 5G space, OPPO featured its Smart Home of the Future at MWC to showcase how its IoT products can make homes smarter and more connected. The unique 5G CPE, Omni, powered by Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X55 5G Modem-RF System, is capable of turning 5G signals into stable, high speed Wi-Fi connections through two proprietary antenna systems.

The O-Reserve 5G antenna system uses the Sub-6GHz 5G spectrum, automatically choosing four of its eight antennas at a time to get the best possible signal. At the same time, the O-Motion 360° technology can fully rotate its antennae, automatically ensuring the CPE is positioned for optimum 5G millimeter wave signal reception. OPPO, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and Ericsson recently completed successful tests of 5G millimeter wave technology with the Omni, achieving download speeds of 4.06Gbps.

“At OPPO, we firmly believe that 5G will change how we all live. As coverage and capacity expand, we’ll see new applications flourishing in numerous areas, bringing unexpected experiences to consumers. We’re already involved in the development of a global 5G standard, and will continue to explore new 5G devices and deployments, from TV to CPE to AR,” said Henry Tang, Vice President of OPPO Research Institute.
