Moving on from a bad break up

Do you question yourself why you always end up having dark Octobers instead of sweet Novembers? Sometimes you really have to muster up all the positive energy in you to be able to move on from a recent relationship or a bad break up! But don’t worry life goes and you will get over it.

Yes, these tips don’t always work on everyone, but they are just essential in dealing with it, showing respect to your ex and yourself. But just like all the good things in life, moving on require work and consistency. Don’t be afraid to take the necessary steps to move on, you also don’t have to rush it, just take your time and you will be alright.

Admit to yourself that you’re not okay. First step towards repair is finding out the problem and realizing you’re not fine and you’re hurt emotionally. It’s okay to not be okay, don’t be too hard on yourself.

Be happy for him/her. Take away all the bitterness inside you and turn them into positive things!  Always keep in mind the good memories in your relationship. That’s what you should hold on to! Not the fact that you have broken up already or drifted apart.

Cry it all out. Cry everything out until there are no more tears. Cry but never ever hurt yourself. Soon you’ll get tired of it and then you’ll be surprised you no longer feel sad anymore. Soon after, whenever you think of him, a smile will come around instead of tears. You’ll smile because you know he is happy. You’ll smile because you’ve been given the chance to grow and do things on your own.

Make time for your friends, family and keep yourself busy. Talk to them, spend time with them. They will play a really big role in coping. It’s a process that friends and family will stick with you no matter what stage of moving on you’re in.

Don’t go online too often, stay lowkey on social media. Never check on his/her tweets, his posts, just don’t. As much as possible, if you intend to really move on, you should stop asking people around about him, like how he is doing, what he has been up to, where he is and who he is with.

When you see him/her, act normal. Don’t act as if you’re bitter or affected. Eye-contact, smile, say “hi” or hello”. Don’t show him you’re hurting, it will only boost their ego.

Start making new friends, really this helps a lot. Give time to people who can treat you better and make you feel good about yourself.

Sweat the sadness away. We often do stress eating when we’re heartbroken, don”t fall into the vicious cycle, but instead focus on yourself! Focus on your health and set goals to get back that confidence you might have lost from your past relationship. You don’t have to go the gym to get into fitness thanks to technology you can now workout at home using different fitness apps that you can download on your phone. Even science would tell you that working out produces happy hormones that can boost your mood.

Travel and see the world. Go on a vacation, visit a different country, and get yourself lost! Seeing things from a different perspective is the perfect way to get over your breakup! With every place we go we also discover things about ourselves that we didn’t know before, leaving our comfort zone makes us stronger so don’t be afraid to take that flight you’ve been wanting to take.

If he talks to you, tweets about you, never reply or sub-tweet. Let him be. If he talks bad about you, don’t do the same. Always keep in mind that you once shared a time together, respect him even if he disrespects you.

Be strong and do your best to be happy! Share this to a friend who could use some help with moving on.
