How To Choose The Right Glasses Frame

The secret to choosing the perfect pair of glasses is looking for a frame that matches your face shape and personality. It’s all about picking a frame that enhances your best features while taking into account the size of the frames in relation to your face. But before visiting your nearest optical shop, let’s take a look at the kind of faces there are, and what works (or doesn’t!) for each face type:

1. Diamond Faces

Diamond-faced people usually have a narrow forehead, an angular jawline, and prominent cheekbones.

Ladies with a diamond face should go for round and oval frames to add softness to their angular features. Cateye frames are also an excellent choice to add volume to your narrow cheekbones.

For guys, round or browline frames are a solid choice to balance out facial features.

Avoid thin and narrow frames, because they highlight your forehead.

2. Heart Faces

Heart-faced people typically have a broad forehead, prominent cheekbones, and narrow chins.

Hearties out there should try round frames, which can make the more angular heart shape appear softer. You can also try rectangular frames, which can add balance to your facial features.

Say no to top-heavy or decorative frames to avoid drawing too much attention on the upper area of your face.

3. Round Faces

Circular, wide and lacking prominent cheekbones–these are the features to look out for if you think you have a round face.

Ladies, go for large and bold styles that draw attention to your eyes and make your face appear smaller. Take the attention off your full cheeks with the strong angles and straight lines of rectangular and square frames.

Round-faced men will also benefit from rectangular and square frames, to offset the soft roundness of your features for a more masculine look.

4. Square Faces

A square face has a full, angular jawline and a broad forehead.

For women with this type of face, go for frames that complement your face shape, while softening the strong angles of your strong jawline. Cateye frames and round frames do the job perfectly.

Square-faced guys should check out ovals and browline frames to lengthen the appearance of their faces.

Avoid small or geometric-shaped frames as they make your face look shorter and highlight your square jaw even more.

5. Oval Faces

Think your face is oval-shaped? Lucky you! An oval face is considered proportionally balanced, with slightly curved jawlines that are a bit narrower than the forehead.

Thanks to its proportions, this shape is considered to be the most flexible when it comes to choosing a style of frame.

While most styles are going to work with an oval face, aviators, browlines, and rectangular or square frames are picture-perfect. These types of frames complement the soft features of an oval face with their striking lines.

The best advice for oval faces? Just avoid oversized frames and shapes!

So that was our quick guide to choosing the right kind of frame for your face shape! Luckily, a lot of optical shops here in the Philippines provide extensive selections for everyone to choose from. In the end, you should wear whatever fits your needs, be it comfort or your sense of style.
