Hilton Manila chefs bag 14 medals at 2023 Philippine Culinary Cup

Hilton Manila’s culinary team bagged a total of 14 medals across different team and individual categories during the 2023 Philippine Culinary Cup at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, the hotel announced in a press release.

The Hilton Manila team, composed of accomplished chefs guided by Executive Chef Ryan Hong, demonstrated their creativity and technique across a range of categories, including Dream Team Challenge, Filipino Cuisine, U.S. Pork, U.S. Poultry, Creative Breakfast, French Touch (Savory and Pastry), and Plant-Based Diet. Their skills earned them gold, silver, and bronze medals in both group and individual categories.

Among the chefs who participated in the group competitions and won medals were Sheanne Lare Sto. Domingo, Jeremy Dacanay, Jeffery Gutierrez, Antonio Jose Chua, Gian Paul Climaco, Georgette Cajayon, Jan Ivy Flores, Margaret Projimo, Precious Anne Cristobal, Adrian Avenido, Eriq Madriaga, and Charles Quiamco. Additionally, Michael Velasquez, Jhon Edwin Delos Santos Jr., and Glenda Romero, as well as Flores, Dacanay, Sto. Domingo, Cristobal and Cajayon also received medals from individual categories.

For Chef Hong, this achievement was of paramount importance in complementing Hilton Manila’s culinary experience. “The zeal exhibited by my chefs in participating in the competition underscores their eagerness to shine and grow, and their cooperative spirit in refining each other’s creations contributes significantly to our success,” he said.

General Manager John Lucas, meanwhile, considers this achievement as a testament to Hilton Manila’s position as the leader in the country’s culinary landscape. “Beyond mere awards, it signifies the push for innovation and the nurturing of the robust potential embedded in our team. We cordially invite everyone to savor the remarkable culinary artistry of our chefs, a living testament to the remarkable talent within our kitchens,” he said.

Hilton Manila said it has been an active participant of the Philippine Culinary Cup, which is considered to be the most prestigious culinary competition in the Philippines. The Philippine Culinary Cup is a collaboration of the LTB Chefs Association Philippines, the Pastry Alliance of the Philippines and PEPTarsus Corp., and is currently the only culinary competition in the country endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies.
