foodpanda,  KonsultaMD partner for free medical consultation for partner riders

While deliveries make online purchases more convenient for consumers, it makes the riders more prone to health and safety risks with their exposure to different people and environments.

So, foodpanda is taking steps to ensure that its riders are safe and protected by continuing to provide them with healthcare and safety benefits. It partnered with KonsultaMD to provide its fleet of partner riders, e-scooters, bikers, and walkers with free telemedicine consultation services.

Patricia Jacinto, Operations Director of foodpanda Philippines, noted that the free health plan extends to up to four more dependents of foodpanda delivery partners and explained, “This is our way of providing them with an added layer of support and protection as our partner delivery riders, and we are quite happy that they also deemed this helpful for them and for their family members.”

For KonsultaMD, the partnership with foodpanda is a way to give back to riders who make lives easier during the pandemic.

“The riders, our unsung heroes, were the primary point of contact for many people during the pandemic.  They put themselves and their families at risk to help us.  After all that they’ve done for us, it’s time to give back,” said Cholo Tagaysay, KonsultaMD’s Chief Executive Officer.

Tagaysay added that partnering with a blue-chip brand like foodpanda enables them to reach more people through digital health. He shared, “The foodpanda partnership is one of many. We actually have over 70 partnerships already. This is aligned with our objective to drive adoption for digital health, and that means meeting people where they are.”

This includes meeting Gen-Z on TikTok, where they have over 53 million views already.

The program from foodpanda’s partnership with KonsultaMD initially ran from March to April, with thousands of Ka-pandas being offered 24/7 free unlimited voice consultations and four video consultations with licensed medical doctors through the KonsultaMD app. Aside from the voice and video consultations, the healthcare program also included prescriptions, laboratory requests, and other services. Seeing how well-received the program was, foodpanda extended the program from May to June.

Junrey Sahitas, 22-year-old foodpanda partner rider, attested to how well the program was received. He availed of the program and shared that he had a good experience with KonsultaMD after consulting with them. He was given a prescription right after the online consultation and he commended them for the good service.

Meanwhile, as a father to a seven-month-old baby, Renz Cedrick Sta. Maria was delighted when he found that the free health plan also extends to his dependents. “Pina-check ko po yung baby ko kasi hinihingal po siya noon, parang hinihika. Nag fill-out po ako ng form at hindi rin nagtagal ang paghihintay ko at nag-send agad sila ng reseta.” (“My baby got a check-up because they’re having a hard time breathing, as if they’re having an asthma attack. I filled out the form and I didn’t have to wait for too long, they sent a prescription immediately.”)

foodpanda made the availing of the healthcare services convenient for their partner riders by sending the unique voucher code to their rider app so they can easily redeem the health plan from the KonsultaMD app.

On top of the free consultation service, foodpanda has also been consistent at rolling out programs that will prioritize the health and safety of its Ka-panda delivery partners. It includes linking them to PhilHealth to access basic healthcare benefits and a free insurance coverage that will protect them while they make deliveries on the road. With this, not only foodpanda customers will be safe and protected, but Ka-panda partner riders and their families as well.
