Bathroom cleaning 101

Your bathroom is one of the first thing your visitors will judge you for when they come in to your house, so keeping it clean is essential! Whether you’re having guests or not it’s still important to keep your bathroom clean because, why not! If this is your first time cleaning the loo area here’s what you should do:

Safety First!

First and foremost you must wear rubber gloves! Before you start cleaning you must protect your hands from harmful bacteria that formed in your bathroom (ew!).

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to get down and dirty! Prepare to spend at least 30 minutes to do this task.

Cleaning Agents

Prepare ajax, chlorox, a long brush, a hand brush, a toothbrush, a pail, rags: wet and dry and sponge: the green one better if the other side of the sponge has a sponge, baking soda.

Dust Off

Before watering  down your bathroom try to remove all the dust build up first. By doing this you’ll get to avoid washing down big dust that might get stuck in the floor drain.

Cleaning Time
  • Once done with dusting off, wet the whole bathroom with water and throw in ajax or any bathroom cleaner all over the floor.
  • With a long brush, start scrubbing the floor.
  • Throw in ajax sink area. Use the short brush, and scotch brite to scrub the sink and other areas.
  • Do the same on the walls.
  • Then start rinsing the soapy areas.
  • Do the same with the toilet bowl, rinse.
  • You can use the tooth brush for areas that’s harder to reach and needs extra cleaning. Baking soda does the work. This even works on toilet bowls.
  • You can put the bleach on a spray bottle, then spray on the wall evenly. Place chlorox on the walls and the floors. Spread with a rug.
  • If you want to step up the cleaning even more you can use hydrochloric acid or muratic acid on the floor and tiles of the room, but very careful with how you use it! You can check out a short instruction on how to use muratic acid here.
  • Leave the bathroom to dry on its own.
  • The other dry rug is to clean the mirror. Tip* using old news paper or scratch paper is also perfect for wiping the mirror clean.
